Handwoven Scarves - Rayon

Rayon scarves are quite versatile. I've worn them indoors simply draped under my blazer's lapels, and outdoors in spring and fall when the weather's a bit nippy. They can dress up your plain navy work suit or add just the right touch on top of your favorite jeans & sweater. My rayon scarves are long enough to provide plenty of wrapping options while keeping an ability for a professional look. Many are made from hand painted yarn created by fiber artists.

Color Blocks handwoven scarves
Purple Color Blocks
Tencel Handwoven Scarves

I think these scarves are almost magical - how is it possible to weave something that simultaneously showcases two different colors? This is a classic Swedish design that I'ved updated in new fibers and colors. Handmade of Tencel®, these scarves are nice and soft and have beautiful drape. They'll look great under the lapels of your coat or tossed over your favorite T shirt.

Woven from fine gauge rayon, these scarves are lightweight - perfect for three season wear. They're also easy to care for - a quick hand wash is all it takes.

On the left is a combination of purple & lavendar, in the center is purple & emerald, on the right purple & periwinkle. Choose a scarf that sets your heart spinning or let me select for you. Each scarf is 8" wide and 72" long plus it's classy double-twisted fringe.

black & white log cabin handwoven scarf
Black & White
Tencel Handwoven Scarf

What's more classic and versatile than black & white? Not much! It goes with virtually everything, from bright colors to these two neutrals. Wear this scarf easily over your jeans, a dress, or with your blazer.

The weaving pattern, called log cabin, creates lots of visual interest, fooling the eye into seeing three dimensions where there are two.

This Tencel® scarf is 7 1/2" wide and 72" long, plus my neat double-twisted fringe. Show your fashion sense with a simple toss over your shoulder, a wrap around your waist, a backward drape, or any other style.

About Rayon

Rayon is a combination of natural fiber (starting as a cellulose base) and manmade (chemical and mechanical treatments).

All rayon, regardless of type, drapes beautifully and has a lovely sheen. It is much easier to care for than silk, although it feels almost as smooth on your skin.
-------------------
The word boucle is derived from a French, meaning "to curl." But rayon boucle yarn isn't what I would call curly. It's twisty - it looks like you had your hair in braids for a few days then took the braids out before washing it. When it's woven, this twisty-ness results in a nubbly texture. These scarves are medium weight and easy to wear.

The fine gauge rayon I use is thin, smooth, and has a nice sheen. It creates a light and airy scarf, one that's great for warmer weather outside or indoors all year.

I recommend hand washing all of my handwoven rayon scarves and laying them flat to dry. Finish with a short fluff in the dryer if you like.

Like every Second Wind product, each scarf is individually handmade with pride in the U.S.A.

gold & black handwoven scarf
Gold & Black Snakeskin
Tencel Handwoven Scarf

When I designed this series of scarves I call Snakeskin (four colors on this page), that's what I had in mind - the she skin of some type of desert snake. When, without preface, I showed them to my friend, she saw crests, designs of the royals from hundreds of years ago.

Regardless of whether you see royals, snakes, or something else, you will be a standout in any of these four scarves.

Handmade of Tencel®, these scarves are remarkably soft, with great sheen and drape. They are each 8" wide and 72" long plus their double-twisted fringe.

As with all my handwoven scarves, I recommend a quick hand wash for this one. Dry flat, then press with a cool iron or fluff in the dryer.

Tencel® is an interesting fiber. It's made from cellulose - plant fibers - and so is relatively eco-friendly. Tencel® has a great sheen and drapes beautifully. It's sometimes called faux silk.

See the Gold & Black Snakeskin scarf (above) for details about this design and care of the scarf.

This red & black scarf is a showstopper when worn over black or white. You will be sure to draw lots of admiring looks.

black & white handwoven scarves
Black & White Snakeskin
Tencel Handwoven Scarf

Although it's black and white, this handwoven scarf is anything but classic. The complex weaving pattern, repeated along its length, is unusual and encourages a wide variety of interpretations.

It looks great when worn with bright colors or when topping a white shell or black turtleneck. The 72" length will give you lots of wrapping options to show your personal style.

See the Gold & Black Snakeskin scarf (above left) for more details.

Rayon Handwoven Scarf

Copper is believed to have healing qualities, relieving various physical symptoms. I can't say if that's true, but I can tell you that these handwoven scarves will lighten your mood when they grace your neck.

Orange is hot - not just visually, but also in terms of fashion. And these rayon scarves bring out all the best orange has to offer, from copper to rust, red to cream, with just a touch of green for added interest.

Watery Depths handwoven scarf
Watery Depths
Rayon Handwoven Scarf

When the water is deep and the light is right, you'll see blues and greens reflected in every ripple. Fish slide by underwater adding their own hues to mix, flashing their bright or subdued colors. That's all I can think of when I look at this handwoven scarf.

The blue and green colors set the tone, with the sheen and movement of rayon providing just the right backdrop. Meanwhile the weaving pattern of interlocking diamonds give you a glimpse of the texture in the underwater life.

Handmade from fine gauge rayon, this scarf is lightweight and supple, perfect for indoors all year round, or outdoors whenever the water near you is moving. It is 7" wide and 72" long, plus its generous, hand twisted fringe.

Pond & Moss handwoven scarf
Pond & Moss
Rayon Handwoven Scarf

Whenever I take a walk in the woods, I notice how soft and inviting that wetland moss is. Leaving the woods, the pond offers its own coolness. Reflecting the trees on its still surface, I'm drawn to dive in and swim a few laps, or just float on my back and watch the clouds. This handwoven scarf will give you the same sense of softness, reminding you of how sweet that cool breeze or refreshing dip in the pond feels on a hot summer afternoon.

Woven from hand painted yarn, you'll never see another scarf exactly like this one. Handmade of Tencel®, this scarf has a nice sheen and a great drape. It's light enough to wear most of the year, and looks great indoors in any season.

Wrap it, drape it, tie it -- you choose the fashion sense, this rayon scarf is ready for anything. It is 7" wide and 74" long, and ready to go after a quick hand wash.
